Thanks @TrusteeBrzovic I hope other school board Trustees in Nanaimo will follow your lead and commit to asking BC Education Minister Rob Fleming when he will fulfil his promise to ADHD students add ADHD as a stand-alone category in special education that he made more than 10 months ago (December 4th, 2017).

@TrusteeBrzovic If elected will you commit to asking Min Fleming when he’ll finally carry out his 10-month-old promise to add #ADHD as a standalone category in special education so ADHD students get #IEPsForADHD ? https://t.co/zRe6pQVXQw #bced #Nanaimo pic.twitter.com/guf4kaf6TX

Yes. That said, while this is a big issue it is but one piece of the puzzle
I think we need a full blown review of special education – how it’s funded, designations… the whole 9 yards, as the saying goes.

Also to clarify – individual trustees don’t have power. It would be something that individuals would propose at the board table. Then, while individual districts can & should advocate to the MOE, it’s even more effective when we present these ideas motions to the BCSTA

Yes the more trustees involved in #ADHD the better. Spent 8+ years asking them to ask to add ADHD to special ed for at election time, never found one that cared enough to do s/t towards that. Yes I know min has to act. But trustees need to care. Good you do #IEPsForADHD #bced

If you see any other political parties or independent school board candidates who have any policies on the biggest number of students with special needs, ADHD in their platform, please thank them and send me that information so I can post it online. Always important to reward good behaviour on ADHD because it is so rare by politicians
