We’ve got some more Lower Mainland BC Libraries signed up to participate in raising awareness of ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder for ADHD Awareness Week Oct 14-20th. We’ve really had a great response from Librarians throughout the Lower Mainland to help raise awareness of ADHD.
Volunteers from my Vancouver Adult ADD Support Group and I have signed up Libraries in New Westminister, North Vancouver City & North Vancouver District to have ADHD Awareness Week Book Displays. There will be ADHD books, books by authors who have ADHD, our ADHD Awareness Week Poster and Brochures on the only 2 ADHD support group in all of BC, My Vancouver Adult ADD Support Group and CHADD Vancouver.
Too bad our BC Liberal and BC NDP politicians couldn’t be as helpful to adults and children with ADHD as our Librarians are. During the last BC election, the leaders of the BC Conservatives and the BC Greens Party and their candiates including the first elected Green party MLA Andrew Weaver both supported reopening the BC Adult ADHD clinic the BC Liberals closed in 2007 after a politically embarrassing year long wait list.
Christy Clark said to my question to her about reopening it at her 2011 only town hall “I’m absolutely committed to working with you on it.” And she did? Nothing. Adrian Dix and his BCNDP MLA’s and candidates refused to reopen the clinic.
Please consider asking your BC MLA why they continue to treat Adults with ADHD as third class citizens by not requiring BC medical schools to properly train doctors on how to diagnose and treat ADHD and not having any public Adult ADHD clinics in BC after they killed the only one that existed.
