Yuanyuan Jiang will be helping us out at our ADHD Awareness Week information tables at The Richmond Brighouse Library Lobby at 100-7700 Minoru Gate, Richmond, Friday October 18th 3pm to 8pm, and at The West End Community Center at 870 Denman Street, Vancouver, Saturday October 19th 10am to 5pm.
Dr. Johnson’s research focuses on families and parenting. Many of those studies involve ADHD children and their parents. So check it out and share it with those who you know might be interested in participating.

We need to learn more about ADHD, and here are two studies at the Parenting Lab at UBC that study ADHD in children and families:
1) Chat Study: trying to understand what boys with ADHD think about themselves
WHO’S NEEDED?
Mothers or fathers of an 8- to 12-year-old son with and without ADHD
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
Moms or dads and their sons will visit the Parenting Lab at the University of British Columbia or parents may choose to have the study conducted in the convenience of their home. Boys will complete three social interaction tasks on the computer, and some questionnaires about themselves. Parents will be asked to complete some questionnaires as well.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
1 hour
COMPENSATION?
Families receive $15 for participating.
2) ADHD & Parents Study: trying to understand parenting and parent-child relationships in familise with and without ADHD
WHO’S NEEDED?
Both single-mother and two-parent families with boys aged 6-12
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
Parents and boys will visit the UBC Parenting lab to answer questionnaires and complete video-taped interactions together.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
1.5-2 hours
COMPENSATION?
Two-parent families will receive $75 and single-mother families will receive $50 for their participation after their lab visit. Children will receive a UBC T-Shirt and small prizes after their lab visit.
Appointments are scheduled for families at a time convenient to them, and both the ADHD & Parents Study and the Chat Study can be completed in one 2.5 hour visit to the lab.
